Public Safety & Justice Committee

August 3, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Please join us on August 3, 2020, 1 PM – 2:30 PM, by Zoom, to hear Dr. Traci Green, Director of the Opioid Policy Research Collaborative and Professor, Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University talk about her research efforts to improve opioid safety through the monitoring of the illicit drug supply. Attached is more information about her work, including the RACK Study (Rapid Assessment of Community Knowledge), where she has worked with individuals who consumed drugs in Springfield, Chicopee, and New Bedford to better understand their lived experience and how that could drive policy change regarding the use of Naloxone, distributing information about the Good Samaritan Law, among other issues. She would like to add a rural site to her study to assess how practices can be modified to accommodate the unique needs of rural communities. We plan to discuss specifically how the Franklin County/North Quabbin Region can participate and what is involved in the research study effort.
